Woking will come alive on Thursday 31st October with a stunning parade of colourful lanterns, music and performances to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights.
This lively, colourful event is the most popular of all the festivals from South Asia. Celebrated by Jains and Sikhs, as well as Hindus, the Festival of Lights marks a celebration of new beginnings, the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance.
The parade commences in Gloucester Square at 6pm where a lantern parade will process through the town led by energetic rhythms of live music, drum beats and a sea of brightly coloured hand-crafted lanterns.
A Celebration Event will take place at the H.G. Wells Conference and Exhibition Centre from 7.30pm.
