Woking Community Play Association (WCPA) has hired playwright and historian Rib Davis to hold a workshop on local historical research and how to carry it out. From first person interviews to searching through the archives, Rib will guide you through the process!

The workshop will take place on Tuesday 4th February at the Maybury Centre, Boardschool Road, Woking at 7.30 pm.

The ambition is for the WCPA to create a play about the history of the site where Lion Retail Park and the Mosque are now situated. The site was home to James Walker, Martinsydes, the Oriental Institute, and a Dramatic College and home for retired actors.

The workshop will provide the opportunity to interview local people who are associated with the Mosque or may have worked at James Walker. It will gather rich details about their experiences and find stories that can be fashioned into a play.

The workshop is open to anyone interested in local history and will be free!
