At #WEAREWOKING, we’re ready to shake the cobwebs of winter off, and we can think of no better way to do it than in collaboration with local rhythm makers, Dance Woking.
Founded back in 1994, Dance Woking is a community-led urban dance group, who celebrate and embrace modern forms of dance and movement. Throughout their 25 years of operation, they’ve worked with 16 schools and 31 community groups, had over 1,800 people taken part in their workshops and over 22,000 people attend their performances.
Woking SLAM is their annual dance event, showcasing groups performing styles such as street, hip hop and breaking.
Taking place Saturday 29th February from 7 pm, SLAM 2020 will welcome 10 different groups from across the borough, as they battle it out to be crowned the winners in the Rhoda McGaw Theatre.
This year’s participants are Westfield Primary School, St John the Baptist Secondary School, Havant & South Downs College (Absolut Dance Company), Richmond College, Vital Signz Dance, Betty Bloom Dance, BKD Performers Junior & Senior Funk, Street Vibes Dance School, The Urban Dance School and Tuffney Performing Arts.
This year’s event promises to be another great evening of local talent! To book your ticket or find out more, visit their event page!
