Homelessness has become an epidemic here in the UK as recently 320,000 people were recorded as homeless in Britain, a survey has revealed.
You can get involved and help fundraise with a sponsored Sleep Out event with York Road Project that’s taking place on Friday 4 October in Albion Square in Woking.
The event starts at 7.30pm with registration and an introduction from the team and ends at 6am the following morning.
York Road Project provides emergency and long term accommodation for those experiencing homelessness in the local Woking Community. They have an emergency accommodation property and four ‘move in’ properties comprising of 29 beds to help accommodate local homeless men and women in Woking.
Wrap up warm so you’re prepared for the unpredictable British weather as it may be a cold and chilly night! It is recommended to bring comfortable and warm clothing such as thermals, thick socks, gloves and plenty of layers.
Luxury items such as pillows and air-beds are not allowed during the sleep out and snacks are restricted to what a person sleeping rough may have access to, such as crisps and a sandwich. Bottled water will be provided by the team at York Road Project.
