Steeped in medieval history and officially over a century old, businesses across West Byfleet are almost back at full tilt thanks to the continued support of local residents keen to support the local economy.

Renowned for a great selection of independent and high street shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs – and a great commute to London and beyond, West Byfleet’s businesses are grateful for the local support shown and remain as determined as ever to keep the vibrancy alive.

Well-known local independent jeweller, Brooklands, on Woking Road reopened in June and hasn’t looked back.

“We’re really happy to be back open and welcoming our customers again from 10am every day until 4pm,” co-owner Stewart, who set up the business with partner Dave a decade ago after working together in London’s famous Hatton Gardens.

“It felt like a long time coming but we’re back, fighting fit and better than ever. To reassure our customers of their safety, we’ve introduced a range of measures including protective screens, a one-way system and enhanced regular cleaning. We’ve left no stone unturned to ensure visitors can get what they need in a clean, safe and welcoming environment.”

From new designs to pre-owned delights, Brooklands Jewellers said demand for the choice of products on offer is back to where it was previously and its delighted with that its customers continue to return.

“Backed by a friendly, trained team of staff, we’ve always got something for someone, or for that someone special. Something new or something old, we also clean and repair jewellery and heirlooms and bring them back to life,” co-owner Dave said.

JL Butchers is also welcoming customers back safely to its traditional shop in the heart of the village. Voted Butchers Shop of the Year in the Surrey Life Food & Drink awards last year, its proud of its customer service and choice of quality local and British meat.

“When lockdown was announced, we knew that lots of our customers would still be in need of fresh food. We refocused our efforts into offering free local delivery, successfully delivering the majority of orders within 48 hours,” director James Lowe said.

“Now our shop is back open, it’s great to see our customers again. We’ve introduced hand sanitiser at the door, and ask all customers to follow social distancing rules when queueing and in the shop.”
