Channel 4 Sunday Brunch regular and smash hit YouTube star Jack Sturgess has just picked up the keys to a new business premises in Knaphill as part of exciting new plans for expansion.
Professional chef-turned-bread-maker and educator, ‘Bake with Jack’ is making a big name for himself in national food and media circles for his ‘no nonsense’ approach to making the best home-baked bread.
A proud ambassador of the Real Bread Campaign, it was only two years ago that Surrey Life award winner Jack told #WEAREWOKING about his passion for baking and his plans to help more people believe in their ability to learn and understand some great techniques to get them into the kitchen.
Now, the Surrey-born chef who for many years had been inspiring a legion of fans since running a series of bread-making courses and workshops at Woking’s Victoria Kitchen, and regularly online, is looking to serve up more culinary expertise with a new base in Woking.
Back with a new and spacious first floor premises at Lansbury Estate in Knaphill, Jack is looking forward to kickstarting a new series of courses in the New Year.
“Woking seemed to be the natural home for Bake with Jack Studios,” he said.
“Surrey has been my home for the past 15 years, and Lansbury Business Estate is close to where I hold my classes. Plus there’s easy access to London for TV appearances. Not to mention the fact that Woking has hosted the biggest and most exciting free food festival I have been proud to have been a part of over the past few years.
“There literally couldn't have been anywhere else for me to be.”
As well as his TV and recording work, Jack has been a strong supporter of the burgeoning food scene in Surrey, demonstrating his considerable bread baking skills at the Woking Food Festival in recent years.
In addition, he has appeared on stage at the Eat Food Fest, the Surrey County Show, Fantastic British Food Festival, Always the Sun, Fleet Food Festival, Countryfile Live, and Foodies London, and his entertaining demonstrations earned him the title of Surrey’s Food Hero at the Sandown Park Food Festival, presented by Nadiya Hussain.
Jack’s mission is to cook up success in fellow home bakers with his easy to follow, engaging videos. Spreading his passion for baking, he believes anyone can bake beautiful bread in the comfort of their home.
No stranger to Woking, Jack made his mark on the community by taking part in the Woking Food and Drink Festival where he demonstrated his ‘Bread Back To Basics’ to us.
‘Kneadless’ to say, we think Jack will be a big hit here in Woking!
